Between town festivals, parties and fireworks on the beach, there is never a shortage of fun things to do on the 4th of July. But this year, I opted for a low-key quiet day at home. We snacked on chopped veggies, fired up the grill and waited for the sun to go down to set off some fireworks. Overall, it was a definite success.

At the end of the evening, the kids and I went for a walk around the neighborhood to see how everyone else was celebrating. We were able to watch the town’s firework show from the river’s edge and caught a few exciting backyard fireworks, too.
